The TufClay Synthetic Clay Towel is an easier, faster alternative to traditional clay bars. It’s designed to remove bonded contaminants from your paint, glass, and smooth surfaces while leaving behind a slick, clean finish.
Unlike a regular clay bar that gets thrown away once it’s dropped or worn out, TufClay is reusable and built to last through countless details. The larger surface area also lets you cover way more paint at a time, making the process much quicker and more efficient.
TufClay helps remove:
- Overspray
- Tree sap residue
- Road grime and other bonded contaminants
The backside features a premium microfiber towel, so you can easily wipe away lubricant, detail spray, or leftover residue while you work. That means you’re getting two tools in one — a synthetic clay surface on one side and a soft, high-quality microfiber on the other.
Whether you’re prepping for wax, sealant, ceramic coating, or just trying to get your paint feeling smooth again, TufClay is made to make the job quicker, easier, and reusable detail after detail.

Easiest way to wash a car and clay bar at the same time ..this should’ve came out 15 yrs ago
Left black marks all over my white Mustang GT. Very disappointed in the TufClay product.
I'm sorry to hear about this Leonard,
It is quite strange on how it did that and the only thing I can think of is the clay towel was actually pulling the dirt up and if the clay towel wasn't rinsed off over and over again (like it should be when clay baring a car) and the surface wasn't wiped after working in that section, then it was more than likely a soapy-dirt mixture that was getting smeared all over the car then drying resulting in the black marks maybe?
With a clay towel (not sure if you already know this) but you want to,
1. Wash the vehicle like normal.
2. Proceed to use a waterless wash / quick detailer etc and spray directly on the paint using a generous amount.
3. Take the TufClay and the same spray, wet the clay generously as well.
4. Gently wipe in one direction until that section becomes smooth and the clay glides.(Remember, we are working with a clay product so working in sections will give the best results)
5. Rinse the clay towel, spray and wipe off the surface you just clayed. This is a MUST because remember, it's job is to pull the dirt so we don't want to smear it over the paint.
6. Continue to do this process unless the vehicle is fully clayed and remember you will have to re-seal your paint if you use a traditional sealer of some sort. (Wax, Spray Wax, Quick Spray Coatings etc)
*Keeping the TufClay rinsed and wet with your solution is super important*
I'd really like to hear back from you about this matter. If you did steps 1-6 and your outcome was as you described, then we need to get this taken care of.
I've seen this before and have done it myself in the past, not keeping the TufClay rinsed and wiping the surface clean will spread a nasty dirty mixture which will then dry and result in the black streaks you're describing.
Looking to hearing back from you Leonard and i'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you when washing your ride!
